The BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Awards, whose eleventh edition is now open, recognize and reward world-class research and artistic creation, prizing contributions of singular impact for their originality and significance. The name of the scheme is intended to denote not only research work that substantially enlarges the scope of our current knowledge – pushing forward the frontiers of the known world – but also the meeting and overlap of different disciplinary areas and the emergence of new fields. |

Los Premios Fundación BBVA Fronteras del Conocimiento, cuya undécima edición se convoca ahora, reconocen e incentivan la investigación y creación cultural de excelencia, en especial contribuciones de singular impacto por su originalidad y significado. La denominación de estos premios quiere denotar tanto el trabajo de investigación capaz de ampliar significativamente el ámbito de conocimiento —desplazando hacia delante la frontera de lo conocido— cuanto el solapamiento y la interacción entre diversas áreas disciplinares y la emergencia de nuevos campos. |

Candidates may be one or more natural persons of any nationality, without limitation of number, that have made independent or convergent contributions to a given advance, whether due to a formal collaboration (with the nominees belonging to one or more groups) or parallel working. The awards are also open to scientific or cultural organizations that can be collectively credited with exceptional contributions to scientific knowledge, cultural creation or the fight against climate change. |

Los/as candidatos/as serán una o más personas físicas de cualquier nacionalidad, sin límite de número, que hayan realizado aportaciones independientes o convergentes a un determinado avance, bien a través de colaboración formal (formando parte de uno o más equipos), bien de manera paralela. Podrán también ser candidatos organizaciones científicas o culturales a las que puedan atribuirse de manera agregada contribuciones excepcionales en los ámbitos del conocimiento científico, la creación cultural y las actuaciones frente al cambio climático. |

Awards may not be granted posthumously. |

Any scientific or cultural organization or institution can submit nominations, following their own internal procedures. Among them: · Scientific or artistic societies and organizations · National and regional academies of science or culture · Public or private R&D centers · University schools, departments or institutes and research or teaching institutes · Hospital departments and biomedical research centers · Schools of music · Orchestras, orchestra associations, opera theaters and opera associations · Public agencies and supranational, national or regional organizations substantially engaged in analysis and/or activities relating to climate change · Other scientific, cultural and environmental organizations · Winners of Nobel Prize · Past winners of the BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Awards

Cualquier organización o institución científica o cultural podrá presentar nominaciones, siguiendo sus propios procedimientos, entre ellas las siguientes: · Sociedades u organizaciones científicas o artísticas · Academias científicas o culturales nacionales o regionales · Centros públicos o privados de I+D · Facultades, departamentos o institutos universitarios o de investigación y enseñanza · Departamentos de hospitales y centros de investigación biomédica · Escuelas de música · Orquestas, asociaciones de orquestas, teatros de ópera y asociaciones de ópera · Agencias públicas, organizaciones regionales, nacionales y supranacionales con actividad significativa en el análisis y/o las actuaciones relacionadas con el cambio climático · Otras organizaciones científicas, culturales y medioambientales · Galardonados con el Premio Nobel · Previos galardonados con el Premio Fundación BBVA Fronteras del Conocimiento
